PBS recently did an episode of Off Book on fandom and then somehow managed to not talk to a SINGLE FEMALE FAN. How does that even happen? So, to correct that, they're looking to do a second episodes with more females. Overall - loved it. Need to see it again on IMAX 3D (I saw it in 2D) when I get paid again.

I want to slash EVERYONE. Well, sort of. In fandoms I tend to have the "bicycle" character, who I'm pretty much cool with slashing with anyone. (Ex: Xander in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Iruka in Naruto, etc) Tony's my Avengers bicycle and the movie just made me swing from Steve/Tony OTP to Steve/Tony or Thor/Tony or Bruce/Tony and all the other variations that could be mixed up from the Avengers.

All the scenes with Bruce! I adored Edward Norton as Bruce but I really loved this version. Bruce really came off as a genius in this one, which I think was kind of lacking in the Norton version. I loved Tony and Bruce playing off each other as complete geniuses that are totally mellow together.

There were so many hilarious moments. Too many to name. The entire theater bust a gut.

Also, if you're seeing it in the US, stay until the very end of the credits for the second stinger. It's awkwardly amazing.

Current round of smut_fest is up. I received a lovely story, Mask We Fear We Can't Live Without, which features oni, kitsune, artisanship, and some sexy porn times. I have two stories hiding in the current round, both of which generated some very interesting web searches.

Sent in my story for grimm_exchange earlier in the week. Posting should start the 20th. I wrote something rather out of the ordinary for me. It's new, but hopefully it turned out pretty hot.

I've got springkink and the au_bigbang coming up. In between that I've got some professional work going on - a submission for a tentacle porn anthology (yes, you read that right) and then a few other anthologies as I have time.

So ashcat (photoash on LJ) and I are planning to do a writing panel at Otakon again. (Or at least we'd like to try. Didn't get in last year but doesn't hurt to apply and we've run three times before.) We're looking for other authors (fanfic or otherwise) who'll be attending the con (Baltimore, July 27-29) to panel with us.

Usually the panel is on general writing but we were tossing around the possibility of making it less PG or maybe yaoi-specific.

I keep meaning to post and then getting distracted. January and February have been... special. Not bad, just different. Haven't been home much, which means my DVR is constantly full to bursting. Starting to get back into the swing of writing. I have a pinch hit for smut_fest which is going to be AWESOME (and my regular submission was pretty awesome too in completely different ways). One of the things that amuses me eternally about that challenge is that I keep getting all the incest prompts. I think I'm 6/6 or something like that. Not complaining, just greatly amused.

I started watching Downton Abbey and I am ADDICTED. That show is so good. We should be finishing off season 1 Thursday and I'm hoping that season 2 comes up on Netflix shortly.

My second published short story will be coming out in May. I wrote "What It's Worth" for the "Like It or Not" dubcon anthology. It's a contemporary piece (something I haven't done in a while) with a surly writer and the mafia. I'm thinking about doing a sequel to it if another anthology call comes out that fits the idea I have.

I'm also writing for the Grimm Exchange, which will be my first attempt at writing Grimm. I've had so many Grimm plot bunnies running around my head. Time to break the ice and jump into the fandom. ^__^

Like whoa.

So I was talking to my friend nogitsune about Kickstarter and conversation came around to how I have a yaoi-ish (original m/m romance) text based game that I made for a college class that's about half done and a novel version that's 23k in but needs revised, and I was pondering whether or not that would be something remotely worthwhile doing as a Kickstarter (cause, hey, even a bit of money would help get rid of all the medical bills left over from my gallbladder surgery). I'm still getting used to the whole "wait, people are actually going to pay money to purchase something I wrote" thing so I've still got it in my head that my fiction = not something people would pay money for. Thus I've made a poll to consult the wisdom of LJ.

Edit: I realized I never really mentioned what either are about. It's called "Afterlife" or at least that's the title I was working with. (As a preface, I'm bad with summaries and sleep deprived but...)

Elijah's life is Hell - crappy job, no love life, he can't seem to catch a break on anything. The only good point in his life is his best friend Devon who's really got it made. But Devon's success comes with a price - Elijah. For everything good that happens to Devon, something bad happens to Elijah. When Elijah stumbles onto Devon's captured demon, he inadvertently break's the demon's prison and gets pulled into literal Hell. As it turns out, life in Hell isn't too bad.

The novel covers most of the above. The game takes place after Elijah is already in the Underworld (which is more the Greco-Roman version than the Judeo-Christian). There's a lot of different zones in the game - Underworld, Mount Olympus, Elysian Fields. Lots of deities make cameos. The player's running around as Elijah trying to solve a mystery. Gay sex happens. I was debating adding in a dating sim portion so that different actions trigger different pairings.

As I may have mentioned, I've developed a bit of a love for Scrivener. I was talking about it a bit on Twitter, and it was requested that I do a post on how I use Scrivener. Now, I've only been using it for a little over a week so I'm sure there's more advanced things that could be done. (If you have any tips or tricks, I would love it if you'd share in the comments.) The corkboard and Project Tracker are my new bffs.
